Buongiorno North Beach.

You can find many old timers, those little nutty guys in North Beach any given morning, near a bar, smoking like a chimney and checking out what’z doing. People in North Beach are wacky, you just have to look past the one popular street and you are good to go. Plenty of locals and little gems all over the place.
“Hey-youuu I see you ovah there, what’s that bicycle have to do with victoria’s secret…” mkaaay, you old crow.

Daylight saving bike times

March 15, 2010 3 Comments

Quite happy about this spring ahead time change.
Many years ago, I did show up to work an hour ahead early. I’m sure one of these years will happen again, with the exception that I haven’t worked on a Sunday in ages. I was beyond tired and still in school then. It was only me and this nerd with stinky breath that showed up early so, luckily I had my bike and went for a ride. At the time I had an old ‘beast’ of a bicycle but still took it everywhere.

omg. the beast.
we had a love/hate relationship

That day I rode to north beach for some coffee since I was so early for work and to cool my jets. In 2004, there were no gourmet trendy coffee spots places near the downtown area. Cafe Trieste in North Beach and Atlas Cafe in the Mission, were my frequent stops in the early weekend mornings. Today I was reminded of this change in 2004 with an early morning, the company and north beach.
&coffee of course. Nice.

This city is my romance. A daily romance

This city is my romance, my daily romance.
The Frenchie and I, late nite roaming by the Language of Birds.

This weekend was pretty fun. So was the whole last week.
Mavericks mega-wave surfing awesomeness (yes it involved bikes), Chinese New Year, Dinner with friends, beers, coffee, bikes, coffee bikes. Oh rite and errr-Valentine’s. Or lack thereof
Good times. Many more posts to come, as always – much love //xo.♥m

A pretty mellow weekend. It must have been inthe high 30°s at some point. Damp and overcast but a good weekend to catch up, relax and then troll around the city for coffee.

Things and Thoughts on Thursday

October 15, 2009 5 Comments

69°
Humid as hell.
The heat in the Fall season brings people out. About.
On my Thursday city stroll, there was 2 women making out with their workclothes still on. Maybe their break.
3 streets down, 2 roomates having a beer in their garage.
Kids buying popsicles at the corner store.
A few big loud spinner-wheel things SUVs, perhaps looking for the reggaeton spot.
A number of people on bicycles pass by.
Few people heading to Bimbo’s 365, a few off-season tourists thinking to themselves, that this indeed, is the best time to visit SF.
Rocket Dog rescue had an evening event at the corner of 18th and Castro. So many cute dogs, so many ooohs and aaahs.
There are people sitting in their steps rite off the street. Appears to be some kind of soda commercial and all I need is seeing some graphics floating around.
Even though, we had a crazy storm 2 days ago «link»
Some streets around the city are recently repaved and feel like a silky new bike lane, only, it doesnt say so -yet-
The humidity is reflected on my skin, I feel like I’m in the south west of Mexico during March.
The Dodgers are playing the Phillies and I’m having an anchor. I dont think anyone cares.

The night is dark, clear and the weather is still in the mid 60°s.

Transamerica and a humid night.

PC or el MAC?

October 13, 2009 9 Comments

No upgrades needed for a 40 year old mixte, just a few new cables, and air. The latest in pedal technology. Hop and go 🙂

Hello, Im a PC

wool sock panda
Blue wool socks /crissy field

It isn’t that cold out here, but these blue ones match the frenchie. Wool is one of my favorite fabrics because it reads your temperature and adjusts, naturally. Dries fast and it doesn’t get stinky. Good stuff year round and I could live in smartwool socks and icebreaker tops, anyday. I can’t take wool tights, too hot for me. Do you wear wool socks, shirts? who wears wool and what. Do tell 🙂
