I have been playing around with the new camera. All of the above shots were shot with my Lumix LX5, mostly playing with the aperture settings. I have taken many in B/W mode, as I am slowly learning to use the white balance, and all those smaller manual adjustments.

What do you think? I’ve enjoyed it plenty so far – it is quite distracting for the mind and therapeutic, a tad more than it used to be, and that is a good thing for me right now.

Thanks for reading ♥xxom

++ Saturday morning was to kick it with the boys.
We had a little coffee, loads of food and bottomless drop coffee, then a little more coffee.
These shots are all at Flora Grubb, the coffee (a small kiosk) is by Ritual.

++ Saturday night was to kick it with the ladies.
Pizza pies and pointillist paintings.
We got to enjoy a very late evening treat at deYoung, closing at midnight.
The exhibit ends this Tuesday, January 18th.
My absolute two favorites were Sargent’s “La Carmencita” and Henri Rousseau’s “War.”

Weekend roundup: last weekend of September

October 10, 2010 4 Comments

♥These women +their bands, their powerful voices and a whole lot of sass totally rocked it — these are from 2 weekends ago (sept. 24-26th)

Rupa & the April Fishes! at the deYoung museum

Free event at the deYoung, part of their Friday social events. Did you know? I didn’t. Here is more info and the list of events until November: Cultural Encounters at the de Young

Then before Diana and I walked away from the deYoung and to look for some dinner, we ran into mi Ramona, her snowball (her creamy white mixte) and her partner in bikey crime. We of course, were artfully directed by the lovely miz wheelright and took some photos in that relaxing open space area outside the deYoung.

Roseanne Cash, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass

Roseanne Cash, what a voice. And to finish the day off, Sharon Jones and her band finished the set at the Rooster stage like no other. Gave us rythm and got us all dancing. There are no pictures of her per se — we were a bit far from the stage and a very dark night at the park. But we sure had a blast.

Ely Guerra at the Independent
So happy to see her once again in the city. Magical. She is so AWESOME!
The independent now has 1 (or 2) new additional racks for a few months. We really appreciate that!

Sideways

sideways
Sideways.

Wednesday morning
The weekend is not here yet.
I’m finishing the 2nd round of my early morning coffee, on this average sidewalk and admiring the espresso brown rings around the small ceramic cup. As I reach for my bag to look for my cellphone, I realized I forgot it, again. It’s probably charging.

The sun wants to sneak in between those pointy high ceilings that are particular to the lower haight, I see them from afar, and that sunshine wants to hit me right in the face for a second. Yes, the sun is there somewhere, just not here.

I need fog-friendly early morning sunglasses year round, and I wish I wore my big black round hat all the time as well and held a cigarrette in my hand so no one would come near me and at the same time fellow smokers do spark the same chit-chat constantly while sharing a lighter. It goes both ways.

I wish I had Kate’s kitchen ginger peach pancakes this morning. Damn those pancakes sound good right now, and I don’t even eat breakfast. I guess is all the roaming around.
For now, I’m already thinking more coffee is certainly needed and while I lean my bike against the wall that could spit back at you the smell of an overconcentrated perfume with scents of the early morning dog-piss. I overhear two guys talking about CSS, python and php. It is way too fucking early for this non-sense, and they need a good smack in the face. Shudddup. It is not even 8AM.

At 9:30AM for some reason I’m still thinking of those pancakes. Must be the fog and the lack of affection.
