Comictastic!!

July 24, 2009 5 Comments

Celebrating 40 years of comi-con, including a google theme, I too celebrate the occasion and a chance to display my fond affection with the proximity that the blogesphere community brings between people with common interests.

I’d like to give a huge thanks to Patrick [see his picture here], from the hen power duo behind vélocouture. Knowing that I love wearing crazy fabrics or colors [we are tight] he sent me this shirt he thought I’d enjoy. From PDX with love.

oh hai!

We are on haight st. Omar took these pics of me. thx!

It was a lovely surprise when I opened the envelope I received in the mail, I loved it!! It is a great conversation starter (including random French tourist photographers – oui oui) and it even includes popeye on a bicycle, how rad is that?! So, here’s my post to show it off with pride. Thanks so much, Patrick!!

Thursday Things and Thoughts: Taaaa!

June 4, 2009 4 Comments

Tube diarrea.

Contagious. Being optimistic and getting flats. Herds of them lurking on the frenchie. Patching, yes. New tube & tire, yes. Glass, dime a dozen. Repeat & rinse.
Getting home from work wayyy after 9 ‹missed the vigil, 🙁 booo!› Getting another flat and not getting coffee in the last few hours, there was nothing better to cheer me up than this adorable gesture below.
Checked the mail and I found this lovely thank you card. Just made my evening. So nice! – Thanks for such lovely written notes inside, you all know who you are. ♥!!!

A tremendous thank you! to JonGrinder over at Two Wheels for officially introducing me to the Association • Caffeinated • Wheemen! 😀 [**Update: Jon is currently out of pins]
I received this adorable pin with a lovely note via postal mail, and it will be carried around with me all over San Francisco coffee shop adventures. Cheers!! Don’t forget to check out his blog and here, for more pin info: Are you a caffeinated rider?

_As a side note, I’m a Californian, but I’m really rooting for the nuggets to beat the lakers (is anyone into bball?!) Go Melo!!!

This little surprise package I received was the cause of a gigantic smile. I’ll be wearing this sweet gift soon 🙂 Oh I’m in love with this neckalce♥!!!

The details in this Aussie-designed piece are just beyond impeccable. You are able to see what’s in the basket and the adorable designer’s pet, whose name is Duffy. My cat Velcro won’t get jealous at all, the dog is on a fabulous tandem afterall. So cute

Thursday Things and Thoughts

April 24, 2009 7 Comments

Last week, I received a lovely surprise of goodies from the fashionable hands of Mary Jo from Trust your Style. She has been a reader and follower of this little blog since the early days! This cute little bag holds a few of my everyday things that tend to hide at the bottom of my purse. This will be a nice option for going without one sometimes. The linen or cotton material feel very nice and I love the illustration. Pretty cool.
♥ ♥ Thanks Mary Jo!!

What would I do without my allen tool (phillips screw included) and lipstick?!

I was very happy to run into my homeboy Jose. (we are overdue for a bici coffee ride, eh!?) He handed me this at the end of the night. Maybe it’s because I’m riding big hills with big heels? haa just kidding. Sweet. I like redish-pink and blue together. You can check out his thing over at Viva La Bici.

Viva!!

And this is from a sweet man in a shoe repair place in the Sunset. We started talking about bikes, cats and shoes. He had this super old school poster I fell in love with but would never dare to ask for it, but he handed me this as a souvenir. He said he always tosses them. What a gem. Looks like my ♥velcro.

Bike the Journal

August 28, 2008 2 Comments

I have been a reader of ZYZZYVA the journal of west writers & artists for awhile. Always nice
to see good work by unknown writers and new talent given some good exposure.
Operated locally, this literary magazine publishes 3x a year and it makes me happy when it
finally arrives in my mailbox. And, this issue (#83) included a bicycle drawing by Ethan Murrow. Nice!

From their zizipedia “Art: We take seriously our mandate to showcase the work of West Coast writers and artists,
reproducing 30 or so images in each issue, an on-going survey of recent drawing, printmaking, and photography.”

A Beautiful View of the dust market as wealthy miner Thatcher Rohnald arrives with her train, 2007
by Ethan Murrow. Graphite. 74in x 74 in.

(Scanned image from my fall2008/issue#83, but visit ‹Ethan Murrow’s› website for more of his work.)

Read a great article about ZYZZYVA in the LA Timesr

This week in the postal mailbox

August 16, 2008 1 Comment

thanksCurrent (1)I love getting postal mail! This week I received a surprise package from Current in the mail. The sent it to a batch of people and you can see their pictures or videos in the Tee Party page.

I’ve posted some bike-related articles there. It’s a 3-year old project ran by Mr. Al Gore. One of their offices is located here in SF, near the ballpark stadium, with many other web2.0 companies.
It is a cable channel, which airs very fast-paced info (comcast 107) & a website/directory in the similar lines of digg. An opportunity to post your own production/films in various topics is the Viewer Created Content and a good documentary section by their Vanguard team. My favorite is Laura Ling’s Toxic Villages piece. And of course loads of highly opinionated users.
You can see some of the bicycle posts here or for other stuff just search.
