3rd annual shot. frenchie gets artsy craftieeee

Oh my. owls +cute stuff = girl heaven.
I tell you, all you had to do is drool over colorful bags and look sensitive about artsy things because it was awesome. And if you rode a bike, even better 😀
Anyways, I attended on the Saturday of the Renegade Fair weekend, and it was visually cute overload +I was so happy to kick it with so many of my amigas.
Here is the recap, good artsy times!

My superstar amiga Lisa Marie and her brother are the people behind these super cool bags. We hung out with them for awhile and even a pair of crazy cookie aunt-like ladies, orchestrated us modeling with the bags. It was pretty funny.

A big shout out to you, your wife +friends and all the bikey peeps over in the California Sierra Foothills. It was fantastic meeting you +thanks for saying hello!!

Very cool notebooks. Sometimes vendors aren’t very happy that you take pictures of their stuff, but it was obvious that calitexican and I were drooling over them. They accepted so (I always ask) so here they are. Maybe they were tired. +I’ll leave it at that… 😉

oh la laaaa – gold letters?! yes please

JAMIE LAU

Like a bee to a beehive I spotted her banner from afar and immediately walked towards her. Adorable!! Turns out she knows Lisa (Hambone Designs) and so goes on the connection within the San Francisverse. Her bags are super cute and the fabric patters are to please a vast territory of taste (scooters, landmarks, polka dots +more). Who can have enough totes?!
LOVE her logo, it sings happy bike rides when I see it.

Hayes Valley
Octavia street was fairly quiet on Wednesday morning. I often time see the workers already working to make a smoother surface perhaps soon, on Linden st. but for some reason they were not there today. I see the beautiful Ashley and we talk about some mutual events we have done and other city happenings.

My brain is getting misfired signals from my bellylands, and I have to comply, so I head west on Hayes st. and Octavia to get a little snack to eat later that morning. There are dogs. Dogs are everywhere like 7-11s. You turn a corner, there is a dog party. You sit to read at a park, there are dogs. More dogs than roaming teenagers in this town, that is for sure.
Patricia’s green smells pretty crisp and I can’t tell if the grass was recently cut (looks well manicured to me) or if the fog is just teasing my senses. Mind you I have a 4x latte in hand and I can’t quite concentrate past the smell of this morning love dose of blue bottle awesomeness.

I finish the coffee. Ride. Get a snack for later. Ride. Get more coffee.
Then eventually head to work. It is now 8:15am and the city is awake and alive, I’m still working on it.

not much going on at 7:50am
TGIF. Have a super fun one!

Artsy weekend round up.

July 12, 2010 4 Comments

Last Friday night, was my volunteer SFBC evening for the Bike Valet Parking at the opening of the YBCA technoCraft exhibit. Plenty of artsy stuff and artsy fartsy people that dress in all black for some reason. Here I am, not wearing black and causing some eye cramps with that crazy wall. Are those graphics new for this exhibit? I don’t recall.

kaPPPPOW
A bike ninja that doesn’t wear all black. ja ajaaaa!!
frenchie makes friends at the valet parking.
and here is the ultimate ninja bicycle machine

I checked out the opening for a very short time and plan to perhaps go back without the large crowd (and no photos, this little camera’s battery life is like, 10 pictures). I met some super cool visiting peeps from ELAY, and around town as well. Went back in briefly after my bike valet shift was over and got me some Campari.

volunteer day

The band for this opening night was local band Scissors For Lefty. I want to really like you lefties, but the sound was quite terrible. Will check you out again soon ok?!
The Cyclecide peeps were in the house and their bike in the exhibit was not spitting fire when I checked it out, but it was one of my fave pieces in the show. If you have been biking in the city and have never seen their awesome bikes around town (and in-action spitting fire for that fact) you haven’t biked around enough. Jay, from Cyclecide also has some crazy tecate-cans chopper bike, I think that is my favorite.

Humpday Inspiration: At the Fremont Scrapyard

One of my colleagues, a fellow photo-loving language enthusiast, shared this poem with me. We were talking about rides, photos and other things we run into from time to time.

Enjoy!

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – AT THE FREMONT SCRAPYARD
///// By R.C [TheCrowbard.com]

My friends and I met r
at the Fremont scrapyard
to find spare parts r
for our broken cars. r

It was far too hot
between the rusting hulks r
and forgotten back seat trysts r
to smoke or even talk. r

Here, three generations
of the American Dream r
lay in state, dusty and hot
beneath the California sun. r

We were hiding in the shadows
of the rusting idols, piled r
and spread three acres wide,
with neither grace nor markers. r

The heat was just too much – r
they tell me I passed out. r
Beneath that unbound sky
I had a scary dream. r

I dreamt those cars r
came back to life, r
rumbling like thunder, but
horrifically transformed: r

There were V-8 rhinos, r
Buick armadillos, with r
giant fenders on their hides, r
some pompous Bel-Air monsters, r

And Camaro drag queens; r
grunting red hippo trucks,
– even millipede Corvettes – r
and they were hunting r

Some gopher Hondas and
Rabbits out to graze; they
didn’t stand a chance against
that steel stampede.

I guess I had a heatstroke; r
all this was months ago.
I feel much better now, r
and ride a bicycle to work.
