This past Sunday I joined mi sketch group in the Presidio and it was very cool to have mi friend William come along. We met near the Presidio Gate and near by/parallel to the Lyon steps (an older post from 2009 here, and Julie’s Exhibit from 2010 here). It was the same Sunday as Bay to Breakers, but the northside of the city didn’t seem to muni re-routed buses or overflow of runners.
Here are some pictures and a few words:
It was pretty windy to sit and draw so we stayed at the meeting spot only for approx. 40 minutes. We started at the Andy Goldsworthy Woodline and then we walked down the Lover’s Lane path, which is the oldest foot path in the Presidio. Great views on a clear sunny day, you can spot the peaks of the Golden Gate Bridge in between trees from time to time.
Before we grabbed some snacks and coffee at the main post area we stopped by the Powder magazine room [The building was used to store the blank rounds for the daily 5 pm evening gun salute until 1994 when the Army departed the post.*] for another A. Goldsworthy installation: “Tree Trunk”
Got some coffee and a banh mi for lunch at the Off the Grid which goes to the Presidio’s main post on Sundays through the end of October. It was great to finally tried Roast coffee from Oakland with William, as he had given me a super cool green+gold sticker from them earlier this year.
We then parted ways and William headed to the East bay. I decided to continue with the long-walk Sunday pace and went up through Pacific Heights. The Lyon steps are usually flooded by runners and a few tourists but somehow there was not that many people out along with myself and the gutsy winds.
Watching los Athletics at Toronto early baseball game on TV so I thought I’d share some fotos.
Ok that is all for now. Have a great weekend!
